My main passions lie in healthcare and community service. Through discussions with healthcare professionals, community engagement through the Palumbo Medical Society, and experiential programs, such as Nursing STEP-UP, I have decided to pursue a nursing career. In addition to my interest in chemistry and human anatomy, I want to care and advocate for patients during their most vulnerable times. Next fall, I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania’s undergraduate nursing program to train to become a registered nurse and explore my interests in various areas, such as management, policymaking, and surgery. During college, I plan to be involved in the Asian Pacific American Nursing Student Association to bring awareness and attempt to solve healthcare problems in Asian communities. I plan to be involved in Student Nurses at Penn to make changes in healthcare legislation. After graduating and working as a registered nurse for a few years, I will attend graduate school to specialize and become an advanced nurse practitioner. Afterward, I plan to obtain an MBA in Healthcare Management so I can manage hospital staff. Not only do I want to care for patients, but I want to shape healthcare policies and contribute to society in my extraordinary way.
